Basics of Body Language

Many a times we get a work done without talking to the people we see face to face. Our eyes, eye brows, hands, legs, body posture makes up our actions and that is understood by the people we face or vice-verse.

Say, there are two persons belongs two different languages & each of them doesn’t know the other language.  Among these two, one is very thirsty & in need of drinking water; the other one seems to be carrying the water bottle along; how man in thirsty can express this to the other? Difference between the words people speak and our understanding of what they are saying comes from non-verbal communication, otherwise known as "body language."  Awareness of the signs and signals of body language & its utilization can more easily understand by other people, and those who know perfect body language can more effectively communicate with them.

There are sometimes subtle – and sometimes not so subtle – movements, gestures, facial expressions and even shifts in our whole bodies.  Movements & gestures or facial expressions indicate something is going on. The way we talk, walk, sit and stand all say something about us, and whatever is happening on the inside can be reflected outside; and the man in the dire need of drinking water in the above said example, will show his thumb towards his own mouth, bending rest of the fingers towards palm] Aware of this body language and understanding what it might mean, you can learn to read people more easily. If you are aware of body language, you can live for days without knowing the language of the people around. In a sense it is universal language.

Modern physiological thesis says: eyes of the people can produce about 265 different views from within.  People looking at you can understand many things merely by looking into your eyes. That is how we describe love, anguish, anxiety, jealous and all such feelings are expressed by eyes. If you how to use your eye contacts, that can put you in a better position to communicate effectively with the people around. What's more, by increasing your understanding of others, you can also become more aware of the messages that you convey to them.

Body signs works on our senses level rather than the rest which we can say outer messages.  A girl may not express that she needs a hug from her boyfriend; but her boyfriend can sense it taking a deep look into her eyes.  Man working under a boss can sense his angriness  just by looking at his eyes. There are times when we send mixed messages – we say one thing yet our body language reveals something different; this is very common at some places where people expect bribe to get the works done.  This non-verbal language will affect how we act and react to others, and how they react to us.
